I'm told the USHL is exploring different scheduling models that keep teams in their geographical areas. I'm sure Force players and staff would dearly miss the Youngstown bus ride, though. https://t.co/M1jsZKafbC
If college football is entering a 2020 season of conference-only play, imagine what would’ve happened to UND in 2018 or 2019 when it was technically independent. Imagine Big Sky schools going to bat for that flight trip to Grand Forks? No way.
"Acts of political sabotage," "insurrection," "rebellion," "Acts of God," are among things covered in UND, NDSU game contracts. "Pandemic," isn't specifically, but wording will likely prevent schools from paying guarantees in case of cancellations: https://t.co/jcOs7s7h6z
If there are no football money games in 2020, mixed with the myriad of other higher ed monetary issues, will some athletic departments not survive? I think we could see a new non-Power 5 come out on the other side of this.
If the Athletic report is true regarding Big Ten playing conference-only schedule, that would wipe out South Dakota State's money game against Nebraska. UND's is Kansas State, NDSU's is Oregon and USD's is Iowa State.
Sources: The nearly dozen FCS Commissioners held a conference call today. There’s no imminent movement for the rest of the FCS to begin exploring a spring season. A majority of the FCS commissioners are content with status quo for now.
